King Eagle in Bacolod to Open NOPSSCEA Season 37NOPSSCEA
Basketball superstar Kiefer Isaac Ravena or King Eagle as his fans refer to him will be the opening speaker for the NOPSSCEA Season 37: Driven to Excellence.
Ravena, who is currently playing for the Alab Pilipinas team for this year’s ASEAN Basketball League (ABL), is the son of former PBA player Bong Ravena and former Philippine women’s national team player Mozzy Ravena.
In his early years playing for Ateneo de Manila High School, he was recognized as one of the top high school basketball players in the Philippines. Ravena was the first freshman to play in the Team A of the Ateneo Blue Eaglets. He led the Eaglets to 3 consecutive championships in his last three years with them. While he was still eligible for the Junior Level, he bagged himself two consecutive finals of Most Valuable Player award and was part of the Junior Mythical team for two years straight.
After the UAAP Season 37 and his time with the Blue Eaglets, many of the senior teams have been trying to get him to play for them but Kiefer, being the loyal Atenista that he is, stayed and played for Ateneo de Manila University for the rest of his college career. Before graduating last June 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Science in Communication Technology Management, he has led the Blue eagles to four final four appearances and two UAAP championships.
Up to this day, Ravena holds records that he has broken through the years like: the second highest individual scoring output in a first half of a game since Dylan Ababou scored 23 points in 2009; the 38 points that he made during their overtime win against UE; became the second highest points made by single player next to the 43 points made by the former NU Bulldog Jeff Napa back in 2002; most free throws taken by a single player in one game (25), and 3rd Atenista to win back-to-back MVP awards.
Shortly after winning his fourth SEA Games gold medal, Ravena will be flying to Bacolod City to speak in the NOPSSCEA Season 37 Opening Ceremony and to inspire and warm the hearts of those who also aspire and are driven to excellence.
